Aupair insurance
An Aupair must be registered with the State Social Insurance System (ASVG) in order to be employed.
The free accommodation and meals as well as the amounts that the host family spends on the Aupair’s private health insurance as well as on their participation in language courses and cultural events are tax-free
– according to the special rules in the ASVG. If the Aupair earns a minimum income,
it is sufficient to register for compulsory accident insurance with the regional health insurance fund.
The accident insurance does not replace the registration in the statutory accident insurance.
The Aupair can have health insurance through self-insurance with an Austrian insurance company.
This offer costs € 67.18 (as of 2021) per month.
Another option is private insurance. Care Concept is approved by the Austrian authorities.

The monthly amount of such private health insurance ranges from € 51.00 to € 56.00 (depending on the contract).
