Aupair Salary Calculation
The Law on domestic helpers and domestic workers applies to the employment of Aupair, which regulates requirements according to labor law, such as vacations or permanent wage payments in case of illness.
The Aupair is entitled to 15 monthly wages per year (special holiday payments: two monthly wages; special Christmas payments: one monthly wage). In the case of a shorter employment relationship, the right to special pay must be paid on a pro-rata basis.
The Company Employees’ and Self-Employed Persons’ Pension Law also applies: the host party must pay contributions to the employees’ pension fund for Aupair.
If the Aupair is employed and does not receive more than the minimum wage (its value in 2021 is € 475.86),
it is enough to register for compulsory accident insurance with an Austrian insurance fund.
Private accident insurance does not replace government registration in compulsory accident insurance.
You can find out more about this at the Austrian Health Insurance Fund.
You can take out health insurance for your Aupair with a private insurance company.
A health insurance taken out abroad is only sufficient if it is also payable in Austria.
The employer must provide the Aupair with an accurate, dated statement of hours worked, compensation and deductions from compensation.
